Nice day for us here yesterday with a profitable three bagger ( $13, $7 & $6 ), an $89 cold Early Daily Double, and a $24 cold Exacta.

Additionally, we generated another $356 for "Pace for the Cure" ( Multiple Sclerosis ) in honor of Harness Driver Hunter Myers, bringing the total to $551 with one day to go in our pledge.

I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.  Note that we currently have had NINETEEN profitable meets thus far !!

Race 1 1st -Claire Quilty 2nd -Atrocious 3rd -Timing Difference

#1 CLARE QUILTY showed little in the comebacker when finishing up the track at even money, & as a matter of fact, this lightly raced five year old has immolated baccala since starting things out last year. $350,000 purchase can be all yours for 75 large today, and we'll give him a slight chance to make amends in an opener with no first draft of eliminations. #2 ATROCIOUS is another one with a "For Sale" sticker attached to his butt for the first time, and while he has earned a nice amount of checks throughout his career, he hasn't done much to get the pulse racing in both third off the bench engagements. #4 TIMING DIFFERENCE ( uncoupled barnmate with our top selection ) exits the same event as that one, and gets an improvement in the irons this afternoon.

Race 2 1st -The Big Calhoun 2nd -Patty Van Twinkle 3rd - Yo Leven

#5 THE BIG CALHOUN has lost ground in the lane in all of his starts but one, but is in a second off the layoff situation going one turn for the first time today, and totes along a career best figaro. Looks to be the main threat to our secondary selection #3 PATTY VAN TWINKLE. Thismare should be no worse than second for all of you place punters out there, as she has earned a boatload of checks along the way, and that includes nice boxscores at this trip and over this strip. #4 YO LEVEN scored by a pole in procuring the sheepskin right here on the 7th of the month, and while a bounce is always possible off of a big time effort like that, is facing no superstars for today's first try versus winners.

Race 3 1st -Sheer Will 2nd -Consumer Sentiment 3rd -Shirl's Delight

#1 SHEER WILL returned off an elongated absence to complete the superfecta at 23-1 back in February, and did such despite a clumsy onset beneath the apprentice. A journeyman now takes the reins as this one slides in a couple of slots, and is a meek selection in a tough race to decipher. #5 CONSUMER SENTIMENT gets her working papers this afternoon, and does such with a second best of 101 gate breeze 19 days in the rear. This one went for nearly four times the stud fee at Keeneland a year and a half ago, and brings along a hefty 407 Tomlinson figure for today's distance. #6 SHIRL'S DELIGHT has been a part of the superfecta in her last seven dirt deals, and has done okay and third off the bench and jamborees.

Race 4 1st -Vekinda 2nd -Super Swift 3rd -Just Clarity

These three and no more for all our rolling action. #1 VEKINDA put a stop to his money burning ways when getting up in time to pick up the diploma right here on the 1st of the month, and we've seen in the past when a chronic nibbling maiden gets their first win, a followup tally is often the next result. Logical. #2 SUPER SWIFT should be no worse than 3rd for all you show grinders out there, as this fella has never been worse than second in any dirt start to date, while ascending the Beyer scale over that time. #4 JUST CLARITY has one two of his last three starts, and you could draw a line through the most recent, as he was taking up at the onset.

Race 5 1st -Hookin' Up 2nd - Danneel  3rd -Good Mission

#4 HOOKIN' UP takes her first afternoon trek to the frontside today, and while the worktab doesn't quite get the pulse racing, you have to respect the connections, as well as the fact that this one went for more than 10 times the breeding price at Ocala back in 2023. From a DRF Formulator standpoint, shedrow is four of nine with dirsters at this level and locale who are in receipt of the miracle drug, while being ridden by Lezcano at 15-1 or beneath. The returns for that study came back $10, $8, and $9 x 2, but as she is entered for substantially less than the purchase price, it would behoove you to take a gander during the warmups. #6 DANNEEL has done fairly well over her last quartet, and would be no surprise here. #7 GOOD MISSION completed the exacta under near identical circumstances at the end of February, and must be left in the mix.

Race 6 1st -Sabby Sunset 2nd -Royal Bobbie 3rd -Immigration Law

#1 SABBY SUNSET has some decent early hoof, and outperformed her expectations quite nicely when closing out the tri at 31-1 in this event 23 days ago. The fact that she has gone from an 18 to a 47 in both of her dirt deals tells us that we don't quite know where her ceiling is in that regards, and recognize that the lone returnee from the most recent was photogenic when next in action, improving in the speed figure department by 14.9%. #4 ROYAL BOBBIE was declared a non-starter when starting things out two and a half months ago, but drops in class off of that, while losing the eye cups as well. May be overlooked a touch parimutually. #7 IMMIGRATION LAW gets an around the world treatment today, taking the biggest drop in the game, while getting the "Big L", and having been freshened up for this. May jazz things up beneath.

Race 7 1st -King Phoenix  2nd -Three B's 3rd -Vamanos Vamanos

#4 KING PHOENIX went coast to coast like butter and toast when catching a glib surface for the second time, and lands in a soft spot for his first try against victors. From a trainer stat point of view, this outfit is five of six with dirt runners who broke their maidens last time out, while getting Lasix at 6-1 or beneath. There was a subcategory of one for one with second off the claim entrants, as well. #6 THREE B'S bested only one when returning off more than a three month break in the action, and the white flag is promptly run up on this $10,000 homebred, while blinkers are now a part of the makeup. #7 VAMONOS VAMONOS has finished out of the superfecta but one time in his seven race career, and was a gamely runnerup the only time he was last to load.  NOTE: AS OF 11:21, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #5 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

Race 8 1st -Grace Reformed 2nd -Embraceable Gal 3rd -Walk With Me

#3 GRACE REFORMED has done some excellent work for four different trainers since last October, falling just a half a length short of trying to get one for the thumb today. Looking good in a near identical spot to the most recent. #4 EMBRACEABLE GAL is a check earning fool, as this miss has partaken in the triple in 10 of her last 11 calls to the post, with the most recent duet coming beneath Franco. Chance to move forward if able to get a clean trip, which hasn't been the case in her last five starts. #7 WALK WITH ME closed out the exacta in her only second off the break attempt, and did such when breaking from the outermost slot.

Race 9 1st -Lucky Dragon 2nd -Romeo Void 3rd -Romeo Void

#2 LUCKY DRAGON was a well beaten but lively runnerup in this race a month ago, and makes all kinds of sense in today's third off the bench deal. #4 ROMEO VOID is seemingly improving with each passing start, but as he was up the track the only time he made a second left, we are going to keep beneath. #7 MAGNI finished a couple of spots behind our top choice in their recent tango, and as he loses six post positions in a swap with that one, we'll keep in the unders.
