I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play. Note that we currently have had NINETEEN profitable meets thus far !!
Race 1 | 1st -Will Be Famous | 2nd -First Class Cat | 3rd -Splashy |
#6 WILL BE FAMOUS has won two of her last three, and is protected against the purchase today after being snagged back on the 13th of February. Chestnut mare is one of two when last to load on a fast track, and has a nice declining mark beneath the seagulls, as well. From a DRF Formulator point of view, this barn is a whopping 13 of 21 with first off the claim dirt stock that are beneath the 5-2 watermark, off breaks of three fortnights or less. #5 FIRST CLASS CAT was a game runnerup versus softer on the first of the month, but as her best work has come right here, we're going to include. #1 SPLASHY has posted some decent figaro's over her last troika, and can land to share.
Race 2 | 1st -Mr. Bogan | 2nd -Rockable | 3rd -Bernie Goes Boom |
#5 MR. BOGAN overcame a bit of trouble to finish a dead game runner up in a similar spot at Philadelphia Park last month, with the loss denying him a third straight tally. Gelding is now in a second time Lasix scenario, and is reunited with the pilot from his last two scores. #3 ROCKABLE has been beset by back to back layoff lines, but won in his only start off a break, and it's encouraging to see the pre L/O pilot return. #7 BERNIE GOES BOOM picked up the sheepskin when getting the wonder drug for the first time, and has done some decent work beneath today's helmsman.
Race 3 | 1st -Good Mission | 2nd -Sandi's Satire | 3rd -Nikki Brainburst |
#5 GOOD MISSION has been a well clear runnerup in her last pair, and gets an upgrade in the irons this afternoon. Slight edge in a race with but one first draft tossout. #1 SANDI'S SATIRE didn't show much when tangling with tougher at the end of January, but is back at half the level from the placing two back, and makes all kinds of sense because of that alone. Note that the three returnees from the most recent have rung up two wins and a placing when next in action, from two sui generis races, while improving in the Beyer department by an average of 4 points per race. #7 NIKKI BRAINBURST has enough early hoof to land to share. NOTE: AS OF 11:13, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #6 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 4 | 1st -Monopoly Man | 2nd -Prince of Truth | 3rd -Mackville |
#4 THE MONOPOLY MAN returned off a bit of a freshening to pick up 12% of the pot versus slightly tougher last out, and this gray guy completed the exacta and his only "true" second off the bench deal. #5 PRINCE OF TRUTH finds himself at his lowest level to date, and has done his best work right here in Ozone Park. #6 MACKVILLE is confidently hiked up in class despite being out of jail since the February 7th purchase, and as that was his first start in quite some time, could move forward with such under his girthstrap. NOTE: AS OF 11:17, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #7 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 5 | 1st -Spun and Won | 2nd -Concord Spirit | 3rd -Return the Ring |
#4 SPUN AND WON outran his odds quite nicely when completing the triple 16 days in the rear, and brown boy owns a win and a placing in his two third off the bench jamborees. #5 CONCORD SPIRIT is true for three with a "For Sale" sticker attached to his butt, and one of those tallies came beneath this jock. #6 RETURN THE RING is moved up in class after being bought for a dime on 2/2, and gets some improvement in the stirrups today. NOTE: AS OF 11:21, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #3 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 6 | 1st -She's Cool | 2nd -Beira | 3rd -Saucy Six |
#4 SHE'S COOL displayed a touch of a "Z" pattern in the most recent, when losing two lengths from the half to the top of the stretch, before gaining a touch more than that from said point to the finish line when closing out the triple. Filly goes from a bug to a vet now, and is moved up in class for this. #2 BEIRA has hit the board in both dirt starts to date, and who are we to rock that boat ? #3 SAUCY SIX has ascended the BSF scale over her last triad, and may grab a slice.
Race 7 | 1st -Allenhurst | 2nd -Global Trauma | 3rd -Melancia |
#5 ALLENHURST is brought up from Oldsmar for today's New York bow, and totes along a solid and well clear placing versus similar sort about a month ago. Gal is reacquainted with blinks today, and we are not quite sure why they were removed in the first place, as she outperformed her parimutual expectations when finishing second in both tries wearing a hood. Jockey/Trainer combination are doing quite well together, and this miss may sit a sweet trip. After being eased in the lidlifter, #6 GLOBAL TRAUMA found the blinker edition to her liking when finishing a snappy runnerup versus Empire breds 22 days back, and must be left in the mix. #2 MELANCIA is halved in price today, and could last a bit longer than the most recent outing because of such. NOTE: AS OF 11:25, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #4 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 8 | 1st -Just Beat the Odds | 2nd -Reasoned Analysis | 3rd -Murray |
#5 JUST BEAT THE ODDS hasn't been seen since Hector was a pup, but shedrow is on a run where he's won with half of his last 16 male dirt starters off breaks of 103 days or more, at 9-1 or less. The ROI for that study is a bit more than $2 and a quarter, and fella is showing a second best of 149 morning move for today's return. #6 REASONED ANALYSIS has always been a bit of a fragile sort, but is one for three off a respite, and as he was improving from a speed figure point of view before being sent to the sidelines, is an obvious factor if sound & fully cranked up. #1A MURRAY has been a part of the superfecta in eight straight, and 12 of his last 13. NOTE: AS OF 11:29, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #2 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 9 | 1st -Brew Pub | 2nd -That's Money | 3rd -Montebello |
#6 BREW PUB has been kept in prison since being claimed 4 weeks ago, and although he's historically been a nibbler for the most part, you can upgrade the Beyer from the just mentioned outing by approximately 9.1%, has that's how much better he is on a fast track, than one with moisture in it. Pre-purchase pilot comes back, and we'll give this one a slight nod. #1 THAT'S MONEY finished a handful of lengths behind the above last out, and makes his first start for a trainer who's won won three of his last four outings at 20-1 or beneath. #8 MONTEBELLO completes our troika of selections who comprised the triple in their recent dance, all of whom had to leave a forwarding address afterwards. 6YO gets an improvement in the shotcaller and pilot department now, and we see no reason to dismiss. NOTE: AS OF 11:33, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #7 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
