A profitable grand slam for us here yesterday, as that puts us on a 3 for 4 run in the black ( with a $2 loss in the other one ), along w/a $20 Quinella Box,, three Rolling Doubles of $97, $31 & $10, and four Exacta Boxes of $11, $61, $28 & $6.

Today's Beatable Favorite(s): Race 4 - #7 Looking for Ginny

Please visit the Old Friends at Cabin Creek website ( https://oldfriendsatcabincreek.com ) and consider helping out, as every little bit counts! I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. If you have any questions at any time, you can reach me on Twitter @brooklyncowboy1.

I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.  Note that we currently have had NINETEEN profitable meets thus far !!

Race 1 1st -Emirates Road 2nd -Boss Logic 3rd - Olympic Dreams

#5 EMIRATES ROAD has ascended the Beyer scale over his last triad, culminating with a gamely and well clear placing versus slightly softer on November the 10th. Fella digs it here, and will be led over by an hombre who's four of nine with optional sand starters who crashed the board 51-57 days in the rear, at 4-1 or under. The winners paid $7, $6, $4, and $10, and just may sit a perfect trip in this truncated allotment. #2 BOSS LOGIC got up in time to best softer down in Maryland a dozen days back, and for all his efforts, ended up in a new barn afterwards. This win machine has a career "declining" mark that we are quite fond of ( 40:14-7-5 ) and is supported by a solid trainer statistic. Over the last 60 months, this miracle worker is 3-6 with freshly purchased dirt routers moving up and class by 50%, off absences of less than two dozen days. #3 OLYMPIC DREAMS ( By 'Gold Medal", you get it? ) Is 5 of 13 beneath the seagulls, which stands out quite favorably against his 1 fer 7 mark otherwise. Gray gelding can make amends off the flop in the slop.  NOTE: AS OF 11:29, DUE TO TWO LATE SCRATCHES, #'s 4 & 1 WILL BE OUR SECOND & THIRD CHOICES RESPECTIVELY.

Race 2 1st -A Bourbon For Toby 2nd -Uncle Hulka 3rd -Daw Samaa

#4 A BOURBON FOR TOBY has completed the triple in both starts thus far, but gets the miracle drug this afternoon, and jockey/trainer combination fare better together than apart. Slight edge in a race with but one first draft elimination. #6 UNCLE HULKA is another one in receipt of the "Big L" for the first time, and as this $125,000 breed critter went for six times that amount at Ocala ten months ago, you have to think he's still pretty well meant. #2 DAW SAMAA may surprise a bit today in his initial stretch to two turns.

Race 3 1st -Chipotle 2nd -Tapwrits Temper 3rd -Robert's Moon

This triad should suffice for all our rolling action. #6 CHIPOTLE is a decently traveled sort, as this ( technically still a 2-year-old ) colt starts on his fourth different oval in today's 6th career outing. Three of the four on a fast track have been pretty good, with an $11 win, and an 8-1 placing, along with a 49-1 superfecta finish, and recognize that the lone tally came when last to load. Should be no worse than second for all you place punters out there. #5 TAPWRITS TEMPER put it all together with a maiden breaking effort right here in mid November, and as that essentially replicated his best lifetime figaro, we see something in the same ballpark as well within reach this afternoon -- especially with the bullet breeze on display. #4 ROBERT'S MOON was an honest enough third place finisher at Philadelphia Park when having blinkers added for the first time last out, and should be left in the mix once again.

Race 4 1st -Tempting Lady 2nd -That'sthefactjack 3rd -Gouldian

#2 TEMPTING LADY positively set money ablaze when finishing up the track at Philadelphia Park 47 days in the rear, but one thing we've noticed with this miss, is that in all three starts following an "out of the superfecta" finish, she managed to complete the exacta next out. In addition to that, Mosco is as smooth as Bosco when it comes to his second off the snag dirt sprinters off L/O's of two to four dozen days, @ 19-1 or beneath. He is 3 for 7 with that sort, and the mutuals were a healthy $7, $17, and $15, will the subcategory of one for one at this level. #4 THAT'STHEFACTJACK was a well beaten but well clear runner up at this level on the 13th of December, as one Davis substitutes for another one this equine with a "Stripes" moniker for the 3rd consecutive race. #1 GOULDIAN hasn't been in action since late October, but barn secures that's been doing good things here this winter. Including at a price.   BEATABLE FAVORITE: #7 LOOKING FOR GINNY doesn't make our first cut, so why would we accept favoritism ?

Race 5 1st -Empty Tomb  2nd -Legal Deal  3rd -Bold Endeavor

#7 EMPTY TOMB is a 9 yr. old "horse" ( Your sarcophagus is ANYTHING but empty, big guy! ) has been beset by layoff lines over the last year and a half, but managed a win after one of those respites, and historically has done good work at this trip, and over this strip. From a formulator pov, this outfit is 8:5-2-1 when dropping mid level and dirt animals by 50% or more, off sabbaticals of 56 days are more. There is a return on investment of $5.93 with that sort, and recognize that the only two times in this one's 35 race career that he carried a bug, a win and a placing were the end result. #3 LEGAL DEAL has always been quite a consistent sort, & despite being out of prison after the 11/14 snag, is aggressively hiked up the ladder this afternoon. #5 BOLD ENDEAVOR returned off an elongated absence to complete the triple a couple'a months ago, but as this fella is halved in price off the voided claim from that day, it would behoove you to take a gander prerace.

Race 6 1st -Bold Ambition 2nd -Rohan 3rd -Berning Beauty

This threesome should do the trick for all your rolling bets. #4 BOLD AMBITION has been quite the popular item at the claim box of late, aas this gray guy has had to leave a forwarding address after his last four events. There's good reason for that, as he has partaken in the superfecta in his last sextet, and despite having set money ablaze in the last three outings, we see him as being no worse than an exacta finish here. #1 ROHAN showed diddly poo when going over the brown stuff for the first time, but the pedigree says he's eligible to do a bit better than that, and now cuts back from two turns to one for the first time while drawing the pine. #2 BERNING BEAUTY finished in the back half of the pack when facing winners for the first time, but that's never an easy spot, and the speed figure from that day was pretty similar to that of the maiden breaking performance just before. Could be in the thick of things versus these.

Race 7 1st -Fake Celebrity 2nd -Noble Huntsman 3rd -Tricolour

Another affair where the posted three should do the trick.  #2 FAKE CELEBRITY has fared pretty well and all four turf starts to date, and as this one appears to be better bred for the main, we can see potential for some improvement here. Jockey/Trainer duet do better in tandem than separate, and lightly raced a 5YO is priced to move today. #1 NOBLE HUNTSMAN outran his odds decently enough when completing the super at 18-1 at the end of November, and as a matter of fact, he's been in the super five of six starts on the sandy stuff. Could jazz things up beneath for a hungry pilot. #5 TRICOLOUR is a nibbling nibbler for sure, as the 43:1-14-10 lifetime ledger belies. Gelding sheds 7 lb.'s in toting the lightest impost of his working life, and must be left in the mix once again.

Race 8 1st -Trade Secret  2nd -Hazardous Humor 3rd -Willful Desire

#1A TRADE SECRET ( cross entered on National Hangover Day, so check the changes ) is eligible to be dropped in class off the November purchase, so the connections decide to do just that with this hard tryer. Mare makes her third start off the bench today, and finished up the exacta in both starts when doing just that. Mild choice. #4 HAZARDOUS HUMOR exits the same race as the above, and also ended up in a new barn afterwards. We'll reverse the two today because of a small swing in the weight department. #5 WILLFUL DESIRE came back after a four month freshening to win in going away fashion right here a little less than a month back, and while a bounce is always possible off of something that like that, we'd be silly to leave out.  NOTE: DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #2 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
