Just a couple of chalky winners for us here yesterday, but we also had four Rolling Doubles of $112, $57, $5 & $9, and a Beatable Favorite.

Today's Beatable Favorite(s): Race 10 - #1 Now and Later

Please visit the Old Friends at Cabin Creek website ( https://oldfriendsatcabincreek.com/  ) and consider helping out, as every little bit counts! I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. If you have any questions at any time, you can reach me on Twitter @brooklyncowboy1.

I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.

Race 1 1st -Quietside 2nd - First Class Lady  3rd -Ragtime

#6 QUIETSIDE gets her working papers today, and is displaying a sensational best of 138 morning move on the 21st of July for such. 388 Tomlinson figure is juicy enough, and we see that all six upstairs members of the family tree got their initial tally within the first two outings. #3 FIRST CLASS LADY went for six times the $150,000 stud fee at Keeneland last year, so is obviously well meant. Work tab is honest enough, and we can't fault those taking a favorable view. #5 RAGTIME has a bullet gate move for today's overture, and that's something that always merits inclusion. This miss is a half to three runners who banked more than 100 large, and one of them was a Graded Stakes winner.  NOTE: AS OF 11:12, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #4 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

Race 2 1st -Next 2nd -Masqueparade 3rd -Slip Mahoney

#5 NEXT has proven to be a sensational claim by Cowans, as after being plucked for 62 large, this gray gelding has won eight of 10 since, while banking about three quarters of a million dollars. Will take some pounding at the windows, but looks to be tough. In hour eyes, #2 MASQUEPARADE appears to be the only one with a shot of upsetting the apple cart, based in part by the nice placing beneath today's pilot in the Suburban two starts ago. Should be no worse than second for all you place punters out there. #1 SLIP MAHONEY lost by only a head in his one second off the bench deal, and is one of three when loading first, while having the all important win over the track.

Race 3 1st -Pit Boss 2nd -Kahala  3rd -Bossmakinbossmoves

We are not really feeling the heat here, so take it easy. #5 PIT BOSS has gone coast to coast like butter and toast in his last duet, and war horse makes his 60th start today, while having been in the money nearly half of those times. Hike in class is duly noted, but is facing no world beaters here, and could keep the streak going. #2 KAHALA has partaken in the superfecta in his last quintet, and gets an upgrade to a rider that has done quite well for this outfit in Saratoga over the last couple of years. Got his photo taken the only time he went two turns to one on the dirt, and did such the tune of $19. #8 BOSSMAKINBOSSMOVES rounds out the top three.  NOTE: AS OF 11:16, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #3 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

Race 4 1st -Ill Siciliano 2nd -Kick a Buck 3rd -Sugar Hook

These three and no more for all our rolling action. #2 ILL SICILIANO ( we can relate ) came along solidly to complete the triple at 12-1 the only time he was made available for purchase, and could be coming late in the game once again with any pace to cut into. #8 KICK A BUCK has the best collection of speed figures in the field, and makes all kinds of sense in taking the plunge in class. Should be no worse than third for all you show grinders. #3 SUGAR HOOK can be forgiven the off the turf deal, as that's not his forte', but has done some decent work on the gramma, and rates another shot while in with maiden cleaners.  OFF TURF: 9-7-1-2-12

Race 5 1st -Shaman Princess  2nd -In Our Time 3rd -Boss of All

#3 SHAMAN PRINCESS hasn't been seen since just before Christmas, but had done nothing but improve in her three starts on the verde prior to being shelved, and rates a solid shot if sound and fully cranked up. #6 IN OUR TIME is another one who took kindly when transitioning over to the blades, and is in receipt of a trainer upgrade this afternoon. Also note, that Ortiz does better with this barn, then without. #4 BOSS OF ALL returned off more than a full calendar layoff to finish a dead game runner-up versus slightly weaker the last time out, and while a bounce is always possible off of something like that, we see that she improved by about 12.2% in her lone second off the bench engagement.  OFF TURF: 2-4-6-8-10

Race 6 1st -Twirling Lulu 2nd -Wild Mischief  3rd -Boston's Phinest

#4 TWIRLING LULU takes her first afternoon trek to the front side today, and does such with a bullet gate move in her pocket, and y'all know how we feel about that. From a Formulator point of view, Levine has won with half of his six firsters fitting all of this exact criteria ( any sex and jock ), with the victors paying $8, $31, and $17. Irad doesn't ride for this barn quite often, but it's worth noting that he's on a 5:2-2-1 streak with them, w/ the winners coming back $7, and $49. #7 WILD MISCHIEF has a bit of an unproven pedigree, but a couple of her workouts are honest enough, and may land a share. #3 BOSTON'S PHINEST is a $6,500 bred gal, who went for substantially more than that at auction back in May. The work tab says she could be sitting on a good one.  NOTE: AS OF 1:13 A.M. SUNDAY, WE ARE FLIP FLOPPING OUR TOP TWO SELECTIONS.

Race 7 1st -Chantico 2nd -All Night Revival 3rd -Love Tempo ( Ire )

#5 CHANTICO doesn't have the best turf pedigree in the field, but there don't appear to be any standouts in a wide open event. This one is a half to a stakes winner who's banked an nice amount of money, and I can't tell you the last time I've seen Shug with a Louisiana bread. Meek selection in a race that's difficult to hug. #2 ALL NIGHT REVIVAL is a late foal who has been doing okay in the mornings for today's debut, and Johnny has done some nice work for this outfit over the last two years. #4 LOVE TEMPO (IRE) was a bit tardy to the party first time out, but came along decently to pick up 12% of the pot at the Pea Patch. Eligible to move forward with that under her girthstrap.  OFF TURF: 9-6-3-5-2

Race 8 1st -Chattalot 2nd -Billal 3rd - Cape Trafalgar

#8 CHATTALOT is fleet of foot, and got his Polaroid taken the only time he set his tootsies on this oval, which came in the debut more than 3 years ago. That result happened after being last to load, and also beneath today's helmsman. Mild margin in another race with no first draft eliminations. #6 BILLAL possesses a touch of back class and has done okay here, but will likely be over bet a touch. Leaving beneath. #5 CAPE TRAFLAGAR has a 4:1-2-1 box score off of break in the action, & could pick up a piece here.

Race 9 1st -Atomic City 2nd -White Sands 3rd -Aqua de Cristal

#8 ATOMIC CITY went all the way first time out, and the 47 flat best of 118 workout since, tells us that no starch was taken out of the collar that afternoon. 60k bred equine went for 6X that amount in Lexington last September, so we're thinking there is plenty of upside with this one. #3 WHITE SANDS has been visually impressive in winning both starts to date, including a win over the boys in Iowa 26 days in the rear. Third different track, and third different jockey in play today, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Obvious factor. #6 AGUA DE CRISTAL was a going away victress down at the shore back in June, but being the BSF came back on the low side, she might be ignored a touch today. Demand some value.  NOTE: AS OF 11:20, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #9 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

Race 10 1st -Beary Funny  2nd -St. Joe Lewis ( GB ) 3rd -Nostalgic One

#8 BEARY FUNNY has yet to finish out of the superfecta, and that includes both starts since being switched over to the green stuff. Another slight edge in another tough race. #7 ST. JOE LEWIS (GB) is a nibbler by nature, as the 19:1-9-1 lifetime ledger belies. That being said, he's tough to leave out of the mix, especially as the above mark gets a little bit better with races run at today's distance. #10 NOSTALGIC ONE completed the triple the only time he was in a second off the bench jammie, and seems properly spotted for his first try against winners.  OFF TURF: 5-16(MTO)-1-5-13(AE) BEATABLE FAVORITE: #1 NOW OR LATER
