I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.

Race 1 1st -Sassy Shenanigans 2nd -Route Sensation 3rd -Carmen's Candy Jar

#6 SASSY SHENANIGANS ( like all but one in here ) gets her working papers this afternoon, and although the turf pedigree doesn't tell us much, the fact that she's displayed some nice speed in the mornings just may be enough in a spot of unproven runners such as this one. Slight edge in an opener with no first draft  eliminations. #2 ROUTE SENSATION comes in today off of bullet breeze over at Belmont, and the pedigree is honest enough for today's trip. #4 CARMEN'S CANDY JAR is backed by potent connections, but we're thinking this one may need a little bit of more distance down the road. Leaving beneath.  OFF TURF: 5-6-4-2-3  NOTE: AS OF 12:05, DUE TO A KEY SCRATCH, OUR AMENDED SELECTIONS WILL BE 4-2-5.

Race 2 1st -Borletti ( Ire ) 2nd -Clubhouse 3rd -Tivy

These three and no more for all our rolling action. #6 BORLETTI (IRE) put forth a cracker jack effort in a turf dash last time out, when placing directly behind a next out victor right here. The only time he went from green to brown, a maiden breaking diploma was procured, and if you would prorate the lifetime best turf figure from the most recent to his best adjusted number over a glib surface, then what you have is a figure that would put him smack they have in the middle of things. #1 CLUBHOUSE has done decent work at this locale, and completed the exacta the only time he broke from the innermost two slots on a fast surface. #5 TIVY ( who should be no worse than third for all you show grinders out there ) has always preferred the fringes, as the 16:1-3-9 mark belies. Logical unders candidate.   NOTE: AS OF 12:09, DUE TO A SCRATCH, OUR SELECTIONS WILL BE 6-5-2.

Race 3 1st -Big Everest 2nd -Runningwscissors 3rd -Major Dude

#6 BIG EVEREST positively adores it here, owns a nice amount of back class, and has the ability to send or rate just a bit. The only thing that has us scratching our heads is the fact that he's been off the board in all three third off the layoff spots. We'd like to see a bit of value here if possible with the mixed signals we're getting. #4 RUNNINGWSCISSORS enters today off a career best figaro, and is another one who digs the local seagulls. You simply have to love that declining mark of 60:15-9-7, and that he's still able to cash hsolid checks at more than eight years of age. #2 MAJOR DUDE is another classy sort who placed in his only start off the pine, and got the job done and his sole start right here. Can't fault those taking a favorable view.  OFF TURF: 2-7-4-5-1

Race 4 1st -Ortley Avenue  2nd - Set About 3rd -Pharaoh's Dynasty

#6 ORTLEY AVENUE debuts today with a mediocre work tab in play, but the bloodlines scream green, and jockey/trainer combination have been superb in tandem. Mild choice in a race with no first draft tossouts. #10 SET ABOUT draws well for the overture, and while the bloodlines don't tell us much for the verde, you'd have to think this is one that one must be left in the mix. #7 PHAROAH'S DYNASTY is trained by Wesley Ward, and this is a turf sprint, so I guess we'd have to be Silly McGilly to leave out, no ?  OFF TURF: 3-5-2-8-11   NOTE: AS OF 12:13, DUE TO A SCRATCH, OUR SELECTIONS WILL BE 10-7-2.

Race 5 1st -Lost in Rome 2nd - Flint Ridge 3rd -Secret Rules

#2 LOST IN ROME has won his last three outings going one turn on a track labeled FST, and historically has done decently right here as well. We always like when the pre-claim pilot returns, and that's the case today with Ortiz. #7 FLINT RIDGE went coast to coast like butter and toast when last in action back in mid April, but therein lies the rub -- as this one has been set by a troika of consecutive layoff lines. Obvious player, but take a looksee during the warm ups. #2B SECRET RULES (  uncoupled barn mate with our top selection ) placed in this race last time out, and we see no reason to exclude today.  NOTE: AS OF 12:17, DUE TO A SCRATCH, OUR SELECTIONS WILL BE 2-7-6.

Race 6 1st - Saratoga Gaze 2nd -From Hello 3rd -Boxed Wine

#2 SARATOGA GAZE successfully brought up her positive Oldsmar forum to the Big Apple, when placing at 8-1 in a near identical spot last month. Although she's winless at this locale, we see this lightly raced 6YO getting off that particular schneid this afternoon. #4 FROM HELLO completes the sibling Exacta based on having nearly blown up the tote board to the tune of 67 to 1 last time out, along with the fact that Miss Katie has done quite well with this girl on the gramma. #7 BOXED WINE ( "Who drinks an entire box of wine ??" ) rounds out the top three.  OFF TURF: 2-1-7-11-12

Race 7 1st Gaslight Dancer 2nd -Devil's Cay 3rd -Italian Symphony

#8 GASLIGHT DANCER is made available for purchase for the first time and as he still has all his parts, it just may be a solid purchase for somebody willing to give this one the time to get back on track. #3 DEVIL'S CAY gave a decent account of himself when going over the blades for the first time, and can do even better on firm ground today. #2 ITALIAN SYMPHONY hasn't been an action since the end of March, but the lone start off of hiatus yielded a rallying win down in Hallandale Beach beneath Bobblehead, and we like that he's still claim protected after the off the board finish 3 months back.  OFF TURF : 2-3-5-4-9

Race 8 1st -Sterling Silver 2nd -Kant Hurry Love 3rd -Majestic Return

#3 STERLING SILVER is an extremely game sort, as this old gray mare goes over the $800,000 plateau with a win today. Mott trainee has done exceptional work in Ozone Park, and should be no worse than second for those place punters out there. #2 KANT HURRY LOVE in our eyes appears to be the best one with a shot of upsetting the apple cart today, as she's hit the board in 18 of 21 starts to date, and has never finished out of the superfecta in any start off the bench. Trevor struggling a bit, so we'll keep underneath. #6 MAJESTIC RETURN has put forth her finest efforts at this trip and over the strip, and closed out the triple out of whopping 56 to 1 the only time she switched from green to brown.

Race 9 1st -True Myth 2nd -Wake Up Lauren 3rd -Under Agreement

#5 TRUE MYTH has only bested three in both starts to date, but gets Lasix for today's comebacker while taking the biggest drop in the game, and we'll bite for today's first try on the sod. #1 WAKE UP LAUREN posted a solid adjusted BSF the only time she tried the lawn, and as that came off the bench, AND against tougher, who's to say there can't be some improvements in the works today. #7 UNDER AGREEMENT is an extremely expensive bred animal with green coursing through her veins, and could be any kind.  OFF TURF: 7-9-4-10-4
